Norwegian Wood
A nostalgic story of loss and sexuality, NORWEGIAN WOOD’s protagonist Watanabe looks back on his days as a freshman university student living in Tokyo. Through his reminiscences, we see him develop relationships with two very different women — the beautiful yet emotionally troubled Naoko, and the outgoing, lively Midori. Based on the best selling novel by Haruki Murakami the film is set in Tokyo during the late 1960s, a time when Japanese students, like those of many other nations, were protesting against the established order.
Gorgeous cinematography by Mark Lee Ping Bin (IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE) and a genius soundtrack by Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead)
"One moment we are watching these characters, the next - without quite noticing - we are inside them, walking about in their emotional landscapes." (Financial Times)
